Technische Universität Braunschweig in Braunschweig, Germany 

Technische Universität Braunschweig, a member of the “TU9” – leading universities with technical orientation in Germany – is the oldest university with technical background in Germany, comprising 14.000 students. The Product and Life-Cycle-Management Research Group within the Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology (IWF) considers life cycle oriented improvement of products and processes as well as the development and industrial application of concepts, methods and tools towards the vision of sustainable development. A leading centre for the development of design methods and tools that support sustainable product design, it promotes environmental sustainability through a directed program of research, consulting, professional development and knowledge transfer.

Joint German-Australian Research Group: Sustainable Manufacturing and Life Cycle Management

Australian Research Group in Sustainable Manufacturing and Life Cycle Management combines the life cycle engineering capabilities of UNSW and Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, and has been established with the funding support of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research. A number of joint research projects are currently conducted with multinational manufacturers on how to reduce their resource consumption and environmental footprint, and optimise efficiency in different parts of their operations worldwide.
